Influences of Tree Stump Removal and Grinding Costs
Whatever your reason for wanting to get rid of a tree stump, and whether you are pulling it out by the roots and completely removing it or shredding it into small woodchips and soil to create a mulch with a grinder, tree stump removal cost is likely to be front of mind.
With full stump removal, the cost of disposing of the excavated stump can be quite high since it is deemed to be hazardous waste due to the mix of soil and wood. Equally, larger machinery is often needed, and there is far more mess to clear up afterwards, and reinstate.
People are always asking us what influences the price of our service, and wondering how much a stump removal service costs, we thought we would explain our system here in a little more detail. In truth, because every situation is different, it is not easy to provide a single cost to remove stumps that applies to everyone. So, we cannot give you a removal or stump grinding cost without knowing a few more details first.
But what we can say is that we will be transparent on price from the outset, will let you know how much it will be on the information provided, what is more, there will not be any hidden extras. There are two key bits of information we require to provide an accurate quote.
1. How many stumps you want removed, and their size (at ground level)
When you ask us for a quote, we need to know:
- How many stumps there are. We give the same service and attention to detail whether its 1 or 100 stumps.
- An idea of how wide they are. This is the diameter at ground level at the widest point. From experience we know what it will be below the ground where it can’t be measured.
- Their height from ground level. If this is below 150mm (6”) we don’t really need to know, but above this height it can affect the time involved in removing the stump, so we need to know!
2. Access all areas?
We also need to know what the access to the stump is like from the where we park our van. But there is no need to worry if it is a tight squeeze or near a wall or other structure. Unlike most tree surgeons, we carry a wide range of machinery which can access any area safely. Our experience and knowledge base, along with our specialist machinery means we can safely remove tree stumps, wherever you have them.
So, with these key pieces of information, your local StumpBuster can give you an accurate, ‘no obligation’ quote, typically over the phone, and we will take things from there, taking the hassle out of tree stump remove for you.
In some circumstances, maybe if the stump is in a particularly awkward location that can’t be described, your local operator will pop over to assess the stump for themselves before providing a ‘no obligation’ quote.
We can also provide the stump grinding service where there is an area of ‘scrub’ or roots, such as when a hedge has been removed, and/or shrubs etc. For this we would ask for the same information before quoting – area to ground and access to the area.
